answered a question Should I be concerned if owner has not answered any of my questions but one?

Is the the date you said you were not available? Did you accept the booking on Rover and did she pay? If the answer to those two questions is no, you may want to send her a message that her dog does not have a booking with you. Ask her not to come drop off her dogs. If she comes anyway, you can turn her away at the door. Try not to feel bad about it. She should have listened. Rover won't hold it against you since the stay hasn't been booked. A stay booked on the site guarantees you get paid.

If the answer is yes, Rover will likely expect you to honor the agreement unless there is something seriously wrong.

The customer just might bring everything you asked for. I've had owners not acknowledge my requests but drop off their dogs with all I asked them to bring. Most of my customers don't give instructions on the site but have instructions written down. Some have given me a folder of info.

Personally, I require meet and greets with the owner and dog. I am firm in that. Booking requests must be received at least 7 days for stay is to begin in order to allow time for a meet and greet. It's an automatic decline and tell them my meet and greet policy. I'm attempted at times to make an exception but those meet and greets can save you froma world of problems.

commented answer Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

Aside from what your business insurance (not Rover's) pet owners could sue you for everything you own, i.e., house, car, even the clothes on your back if they want to. I am not exaggerating. You might want to consider setting up your business as a Limited Liability Company.

commented answer Hosts, has Rover asked any of you to submit a consumer report as a background check and froze your account until they get it?

Thanks for answering. I'm not a sitter and I never go into a customer's home. Also, I feel forcing people for their credit report is just wrong. Background checks can be done without using a social security number. How will they protect my information from identity theft? Look at Experian.

answered a question How long after being neutered is it physically safe for dogs to mate?

I don't know if your neutered dog can still have sex but he cannot father puppies. He no longer has testicles.

asked a question Hosts, has Rover asked any of you to submit a consumer report as a background check and froze your account until they get it?

Customer support says this a recent change in the Terms of Service. I haven't seen any notices emailed out but they have frozen my account. I'm unable to do new bookings.

commented answer I used Rover for the first time a couple weeks ago and had a very unfortunate experience. How do I report an individual?

You should report her to Customer Support. If she did this to you, she has and will do it to others.

answered a question I merged my dog vacay account and now I'm listed twice, help?

I would not delete any of your information from either site. My data from DogVacay has been migrated to Rover, i.e. My DogVacay reviews, client names, dog names, their last stay dates, and number of stays, etc.) I've noticed my DogVacay bookings are listed on both sites but the booking is actually with Rover.

The migration of the two systems has been a mess to say the least. I suggest waiting for things to settle down. Just make sure your bookings from both sites are accounted for and you get paid accurately. Call Rover if these two things are not correct.

Hope this helps.

answered a question How do I connect Rover and Facebook?

Depends on what you want to do.

Logging on? From the Rover.com Sign In page, you are given the option to sign in with Facebook.

Advertising your services? Go to your Profile and select Promote. Under the heading Promote Your Business, you have an option to Post On Facebook.

Hope that helps.

commented question Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

Business insurance is NOT the same same as what Rover provides. It does not protect you from getting sued by a disgruntled owner, property damage, or if a person at your home on business and is injured (dog bite, slip and fall, etc.). The cost is tax deductible.

commented question Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

Regarding pet insurance, I am covered. If pet sitting is part of your business, you can get coverage with Pet Sitter International. (http://psi.petsitterinsurance.com). My policy is with Pet Care Affiliates. (http://www.petcareaffiliates.com). They will cover sitting, boarding, grooming, etc.

commented question Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

Check your homeowners insurance policy. Pemco cancelled my insurance when found out about my pet boarding business. I had to get new homeowners coverage. 😩

commented answer Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

I have general liability that covers me if anyone is hurt, i.e. a client falls and is injured, a dog in my care bites some, etc. I also have property insurance which covers damage to my property or some else's property (i.e. while sitting in a client's home, something is broken or the carpet is ruined because the dog did his business on it). Both are business policies. Rover does not provide coverage for these types of things neither does home owner insurance because the damage or injury is business related. You may want to check your home owner policy.

answered a question Does anyone have additional petsitting insurance?

Doesn't secondary insurance mean if the owner has pet insurance, their insurance pays the bill and whatever is left Rover's insurance covers (minus $250 copay). If the owner does not have their own pet insurance, Rover covers the entire eligible amount ($250)? Is it not the same as people who have more than one coverage? At least that is how I took it to mean apply the owner's insurance first. And isn't that between Rover and the pet owner to work out or does Rover expect sitters to file insurance claims?

commented answer In Home Pet Sitting vs. Home Insurance?

That's a good referral. Thanks.

commented answer In Home Pet Sitting vs. Home Insurance?

Business Insurers of the Carolinas has insured my business. I am happy with the policy. What I now need is home owner insurance. I'm having trouble finding a company that will underwrite a policy for my home because I board dogs. BIC doesn't insure homes outside the Carolinas.

commented question In Home Pet Sitting vs. Home Insurance?

Pemco. I've been with them since 2003. As soon as they found out I boarded dogs they sent me cancellation letter saying I was ineligible for home owner coverage saying due to people coming to my home the risk as increases. It makes no difference that I have home based business insurance.

asked a question In Home Pet Sitting vs. Home Insurance?

My home insurance is canceling my policy because I board pets in my home. Anyone face a similar issue? What did you do?

commented answer Best carpet spray?

Frances. Thanks for putting in your $.02 to an old post. It was valuable. I may compare the two products. Pet Peeve might be "a better mouse trip" sort of speak. Unfortunately for me I might be at the point where I will have to invest in new carpet. Chemicals and shampooing, even deep cleaning, can only go so far. It will not eliminate odors trapped in padding. (I wonder if new carpet is a business tax deductible.)

commented answer Best carpet spray?

Which was the waste? Nature's Miracle or Pet Peeve?

commented question How frequently do you find yourself archiving requests due to the lack of response by the owner?

If your are just starting out, it may be worth your while to archive with following up in mind. I've gotten inquiries from people looking at dates weeks or months in advance. Most don't see the rush to book within two or three days. When the charge hits their bill may also be a reason they wait to book.

answered a question What if a Pet's Owner leaves a VERY MISLEADING review? Which could be bad for your 'business'.

Does Rover not have a policy to address bogus or unfair reviews?

answered a question Best carpet spray?

Nature's Miracle is an excellent stain, spot, and odor remover. I discovered the product in 1998 and I haven't needed to use anything else. Also, their cat litter is better than most. You can get it at Petsmart and Petco in spray or gallon jug.

answered a question How often do sitters leave the dog alone?

The is no "standard". My suggestion is to be clear within yourself what works for you. If you can't be home 24/7, then don't try to force yourself in that hole. Objective of Meet & Greets is to see if you are a fit for the potential pet guest and if the guest is a fit for you.

answered a question Not booked - Waiting for Meet & Greet Question

You do not appear in searches the the dates with that message. Why they do it, I don't know. I've been trying for months to get an explanation from Rover. Two answers Customer Service turned out to be inaccurate. Rover has not responded to my last three written inquiries.

I'm getting more frustrated because I have been unable to get Rover satisfactorily address my concerns. I am worried about the impact this will have on my holiday business if I am forced to archive open requests and lose sight of them or if I don't archive and Rover takes my profile out of the search.

I don't know what to do. Petition Rover to remove it?
