commented question Why does my dog keep coughing and choking?

Could be acid reflux which would require a simple antacid dose from your vet. I would video the dog in the act of coughing/choking to show your vet to help with proper diagnosis.

answered a question What do golden retrievers eat?

If your golden is in healthy shape with no food restrictions I would recommend a large breed dog food. If it is a puppy than large breed puppy food; an adult than large breed adult food; or a senior than large breed senior food. Each developing stages in the dogs life will require slightly different combinations of nutrients needed. Large breed puppies need a healthy balance of calcium while their bones are growing at a fast pace where as a senior dog who may be starting to get arthritis may need more glucosamine chondroitin to help lubricate those ouchy joints. Stick with one protein source such as chicken or fish and try not to change it up unless their are health reasons prompting you to do so. Dog's don't need variation in their foods like humans.

answered a question Why does my dog walk in circles?

Worst case scenario is your dog has a brain tumor causing his balance and directional pull to be disrupted. Some cases are related to a bad ear infection which can cause a head tilt and constant motion in one direction. It can also be vestibular disease which is like us having vertigo. In all cases, if your dog looks disorientated and doing circular motions you should bring them in to see the vet so they can run some diagnostics to rule out any of the above.

answered a question Why does my dog chatter his teeth?

Worst case scenario is that your dog is having focal motor seizures. These are mild in the respect they only target one area of the body at a time and eventually will pass but they could become more pronounced overtime and worth having a talk with your vet about it. Some cases will require an MRI or CT scan to make sure there are no lesions on the brain causing these seizures to happen. Taking a video of the occurrence so you can show the vet what was happening in the environment at the time and what the dog's body looked like is very helpful.
