Do any of you charge holiday rate for Valentine's Day to President's Day?

Do any of you charge holiday rate for Valentine's Day to President's Day? I wish it was a default Rover "holiday" since it is one of my busiest times of the year and coincides with our local school breaks. I do charge holiday rate, but it has lead to some awkwardness with new clients that contacted me expecting my standard rate, but then got a different rate when it comes time to book. I do try to explain in advance that Rover automatically makes certain high demand holidays book at holiday rate, but it is my discretion to apply holiday rate to other holidays. It does feel a bit like bait and switch which I definitely don't want them to feel. Honestly it surprises me Rover doesn't add all federal holidays as holiday rate. Thoughts?

I'd suspect business doesn't increase significantly for most sitters, and is specific to some geographic areas (like yours), which is why it does not default to holiday rate. To avoid the bait and switch confrontation, you could tell them when they first make the inquiry for those dates (before the meet&greet) that those dates are included in your holiday rate, which then allows them to consider that up front.

I always tell potential clients about my fees and any additional charges in the email response to their initial inquiry. A lot of new customers aren't aware of the 24-hour fee policy, and I have found it smooths things out if I just itemize all my charges up front, including things like daycare for extra time, holiday rates, etc. That way there are no surprises and they can decide whether to continue with me.
