Why was my Craigslist account put on hold?
Hi, Folks,
I update and re-post my Craigslist ad for Rover whenever I remember to do it; not very diligently. I went on this morning to renew and received a message that says something like, "Your Craigslist account has been put on hold."
My account has never been used for anything unsavory (to my knowledge) so I have no idea how/why this has happened. The automated Craigslist answer suggested I upgrade my browser, but I am not using Internet Explorer so that doesn't apply to me. Searching the Craigslist forums for an answer was not helpful - most posters said trying to get hold of a real person is useless.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I don't have the answer, but my first thought is it possible that your account was phished - by someone gaining access, often through fraudulent emails? https://www.craigslist.org/about/help/phishing
Yep. I read that but it doesn't apply. Thanks, anyway. :-(
I recently had the same thing happen to me. They are not at all helpful in explaining why this has taken place. No one will take your call and all you receive is a generic email. I suggest you use another email address and open another Craigslist account because they will not unlock it.
Even if you try doing this if your phone number is associated with your old account, you can't open a new account. Good for those who ditch a phone number every few months, awful for those of us who keep our numbers for decades!!
Yep, same thing just happened to me. Went on to renew my http://rover.com ad and it said my account was on hold. I have only renewed this ad once since I initially placed it and that was back in October - so I'm for sure not doing it too often. I hope http://Rover.com can come up with some kind of solution. I really didn't want to open a new CL account.
