When do the charges start?

If the dog is left at about 7 in the evening & picked up at 4 the next afternoon is that counted as 1 day or 2?

That is 1 day, It is less than 24 hours. The dog can stay with you at no additional charge until 7 pm the next day. Instead of days or nights, think in terms of 24-hour periods. A nightly charge is for a 24-hour period, not just a sleepover and gone the next a.m.

Thanks! That makes perfect sense.

Once the stay extends past 24 hours, you have the right to charge the owner additional, depending on the amount of the overage. i allow a couple of hours leeway before imposing a fee, but you cannot let owners take advantage of you. The best way to handle it is at the M&G. Find out planned dropoff and pickup times. If they all fall within the 24-hour/nightly rate structure, then you are good. If a daycare charge (can be prorated however you'd like) will be necessary, then tell them and adjust the booking so that it is paid in advance. if the overage is unplanned, you can "extend" the stay on Rover's system and require that it be paid before the dog is picked up. Just outline how it works to your customers, which can motivate them to pick up their dogs on time as well.

I've seen some people also add daycare rates for stays that start early one day and end late another day. Otherwise, Rover charges for one night for any stay that goes into the next day (e.g. December 21-22).

Which means the stay is over 24 hours.

Thanks, I have a better understanding of how it all works now.
