Is it OK to bathe with my dog?

My dog will sometimes just jump right into the shower with me. I don't mind -- two birds, one stone & all that.

But is there any risk of disease communication that might happen when we're both in the shower that I might not be considering?

I got a puppy and she was scared of baths. One day she was scratching at the wall by the walk in shower. I was curious and just held her, she loves it but I don’t know if that’d effect her health or if it’s just not normal

I know people who regularly shower their dogs as it can be an easy way to clean your Rover especially if your dog likes water. I would not do this in a bath as dirt, or bacteria could be share through open skin or mouth. I don’t have any medical fact about this, it just seems common sense.

Showering with your pet should be just fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with it!

Showering should be just fine. Just be careful not to soap him up frequently; it's likely to be hard on his skin.

If you are using a topical flea and tick medication, like frontline, regular baths will actually was the product off because it resides in the hair follicle oils. So occasional bathes are fine but several times a week may be too much as it will render your flea and tick product inadequate.

Human & dog skin is very different. Sharing baths is taboo! It's as bad for your pet as it is for you. Humans carry bugs just like pets do & cross contimation is always a bad thing! Keep you & your pet healthy by separate bathing!

I wouldn't worry about disease, but you shouldn't bathe your dog much more than once a month. You'll dry out skin and coat. They also need dog shampoo. Different alkalinity for them. Plus you're encouraging a bad habit. Good luck.

Showering with your pup is just fine. Just make sure you use separate soaps and take a shower not a bath. If you want to use the same shampoo, tropiclean is a great shampoo for dogs and works well on humans too. It doesn't have a lot of the chemicals that regular shampoo has. If you use tropiclean with neem oil, you can also avoid using chemical flea and tick prevention--yet another bird with one stone. (=
