Holiday bookings, hows everyone doing?

My first Rover Holiday season and booked in advance. Now i'm turning away bookings. Happy holidays!

Comments

I only joined http://rover.com a little over two weeks ago, and I'm already full for Thanksgiving, and almost full for the month of December. I'm really happy with the response I've received so far. Surprisingly, many of my requests are not for the actual holiday, but for work trips, with a few vacations scattered in.

Not so great! I had three request which I accepted and the owners did not respond back. I don't get it. :( I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I am hoping to spend the holidays with few more furry friends in the house.

I'm new to http://rover.com as I said earlier, and I don't think I completely understood how it worked until a few inquiries. I also, used to accept a request the moment it came in. I figured out that just because someone makes an inquiry, does not mean they are ready to book. I had many of them that reached out to me, and then I never heard back. I asked http://rover.com if that was normal, and it is. Many people contact multiple sitters, in the event they don't reply, or price shopping.

I hear you. I wonder what other sitters feel about that. It feels like I am competing for the prize. We show up for a meet and greet that's takes time and gas and then dont get booked. Maybe start charging a fee for meet and greet.

My Thanksgiving week was booked 2 months ago by repeat clients and the rest of the year is filling up fast

I had a regular client ask me several months ago to save the Christmas holiday 2-week period for him. I messaged him last week to confirm and he's paid for the whole stay already. And I have a new client staying with me Wed-Sat for Thanksgiving. These are the only 2 bookings I have until the end of the year.

I only take one dog or one dog family at a time, so that may be limiting my attractiveness. However, I have had potential clients tell me that they prefer that their dog(s) not be around other animals so that's why they chose me.

And yes, I've had many clients who make an inquiry and then don't follow through. I just figure they found another sitter.

I too find that clients make inquires but not book. I actually still don't have any dogs for Thanksgiving and only 1 for Christmas/ the whole month of December so far. I am hoping to get booked. I think when you are new to Rover you pop up on the search list towards the top.
