How do you decide if a date is a holiday rate date?

I received a house sitting request for Dec 5-20th. It looks like the Rover system charged the holiday rate for both dogs for all 15 days. I have a second dog rate set in my profile and also an extended stay discount listed. I know I can adjust the rates but wondered how the system chose to charge the full holiday rate. I am concerned that the client will see the total and automatically remove me from their possible sitters. What is the best way to handle this type of situation?

Yes, the Rover has dates set, which affects all sitters equally. If you're concerned about not being booked due to higher rates, you could change your holiday rate to your standard rate. Since this stay is between Dec. 18 - Jan. 3, it books all dates at holiday rate, but you can change the booking to the standard rate. This link explains/shows it. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

The following link shows how additional dogs should appear. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

You can adjust pricing by entering a negative (to discount further) or positive cost adjustment (often for extended hours). https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

Whenever I send or reply to a booking quote, In the message section, I state the terms, such as This is for Rover1's & Rover2's care from approx time, date to approx. time, date. It's modified to include a cost adjustment for (...fill in the blank). Please let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing them. Thanks.

Rover applies the holiday rate to all days of the stay if a holiday is included anywhere in the stay time period. Hopefully that won't prevent owners from contacting you. If they do contact you and express a concern, just tell them you can adjust the rates downward, then talk about it in detail at the meet and greet.

I personally don't agree with applying the holiday rate to the entire stay unless it's a short stay. If it's a longer stay, I will adjust the rates so that the holiday rate only applies to the holiday, the day before and the day after. They will get my regular daily charge for the remainder of the stay.

Hi Cindy! I agree with Cari and Deb! I will automatically adjust the rates when I get the original request and let them know that I've adjusted it. So, they might see that rate and contact me anyway, but I decide what I think is fair to charge. In a case like that, you might decide to do your extended rate for most of it and then the holiday rate for just a couple days. All the best to you! Hope that's helpful!

I notice Rover applies the holiday rate to dates that are not even holidays. I do a price adjustment and charge the holiday rate on the day of the holiday and the day after. For Christmas week I charge the holiday rate for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Whenever a customer reaches out just let them know that is not the rate you would charge as Rover has applied the holiday rate on days that are not holidays and you will be happy to adjust it considering that the meet and greet goes well.
