Is it normal for a small hybrid pomeranian female dog to have period bleeding for more than 7 weeks?

My dog is 5 years old. She is not bleeding heavily. Just in small amounts and very rarely. But its been close to 7 weeks and the periods have not completely stopped. And sometimes she would smell her blood marks on the carpet and would start trembling her lower jaw a little bit. I don't know if its normal. Usually she bleeds for less than 4 weeks. She is a little bit aggressive with strangers so i am avoiding going to a vet. Can you help me with this?

I’m not a veterinarian and I believe your best advice will come from a vet.

Since you wrote that you’re avoiding the vet visit because she can be aggressive with strangers, I’d suggest you call a local vet (maybe more than 1 until you are comfortable with that connection) and share your dog’s history. They might suggest giving her a mild sedative before going there.

At 5 years old, I’d highly recommend you spay her. It may help reduce her incidence of cancer and tumors (which sadly afflict too many canines and is a leading cause of death) and it may help with some behaviors too.
