When owner doesn't have a car and travel costs?

Hi all

How far do you go (miles) to take care of an owner's dog for a few hours?

They don't have a car so I would have to pick up and drop off the same day.

Sorry I am relatively new to Rover so if this is obvious, I apologise!

Thank you

Rover does not have a standard that would apply. It’s really up to each sitter’s availability, schedule, and desire how far they want to travel and if they charge more by adding a cost adjustment for pets beyond their travel area.

As Deb wrote, the amount and the distance you'll travel are totally up to you. I charge $20 which Rover bills for pick up and delivery of the pet back home after boarding. I live in a big city, very densely populated, and traffic can be a nightmare. I will only provide this service to customers who live with 1-2 miles because there's really no need. There are so many sitters here from which to choose that they would likely find someone closer anyway.

In your case, you have to decide how far you want to travel and set an appropriate rate, especially given the current cost of petrol. Remember, the amount is a single charge for back and forth and back and forth.

Now that you've brought it up, I think I am going to raise my rate. I have only had to provide transportation a few times in all my years.
