Rover Sitter Lost Clients Dog? [closed]

asked 2022-11-28 11:02:53 -0600

I am looking for resources to report a sitter on Rover who accepted a client based on their Rover profile but decided to take them outside of the Rover app and then lost the dog who was found several days later after she had been hit by a train. I understand that Rover is not responsible for bookings done outside of Rover but I would like to still be able to file a report against this sitter so she can't do this to another family. This sitter still has their dogs photo on her Rover profile. This is NOT my dog but I worked directly with the family to locate their sweet girl.

It’s horrible to read this sad news. From rovers perspective, their terms of service were violated by the sitter and the owner, who booked outside of rover IF Found each other through rover. The owner would have to call rover customer service and admit that how it was booked and clearly state/ likely document in writing that they found the sitter through Rover and what the the sitter said that led to book the business outside Rover (to save rover fees?). Beyond that, it might be more effective to post on the many social media websites. If A sitter connects with someone through rover, It’s a reflection of their ethics and morals for them to say that they want to book it outside of Rover, and probably not someone you should trust with your pets life. Again sorry to hear about the loss.

I agree, I have told the family that when they contact Rover they need to be upfront with the fact that they decided to go outside of Rover to book with the sitter. Needless to say a series of bad choices were made that led up to this. It's just heartbreaking.
