I would like to know how the house sitting service works. Has every sitter have different rules? Does a sitter come to our house and stay an overnight?

You asked a great question, which I have to be a little vague in answering. Rover provides a general framework that it should be up to 24 hours. Every sitter is an independent contractor, with their own business operation. That means that on the Rover platform, the house sitters in any given area may do things completely differently. Some may interpret it as it being an all inclusive rate and plan to be at your house all of the time or the majority of the time. However, some only interpret it as overnight care and then they charge walks on an à la carte basis. It seems a small percentage of sitters focus on one pet at a time. Many sitters will also walk/visit other pets elsewhere during a stay. Some sitters work remotely during stays. Some pursue education during stays. Some have other familial or social activities.

I’d advise that it’s best to have a meet and greet the sitter of interest and discuss all expectations before or at meet&greet. Each client needs to determine which sitter is best for them, their pet, and their home if applicable.
