Anyone have experience with taking car of a blind dog in Los Angeles?

My Soju is a 5 year old BLIND Boston Terrier. Looking for a new dogsitter for boarding when I am away on vacation and work trips. Ideally someone who will take Soju on a one on one basis. Experience with blind dogs is #1 priority but not necessary. Just someone with a watchful eye.

David,

Rover doesn't operate like this. Posting here won't likely get many results. You have, however, two options. You can look through sitter profiles for one who has experience taking car of special needs dogs (which unfortunately is not a search filter) and one who only takes one dog at a time and probably doesn't have a pet of their own (which is). The other is to contact Rover Customer Support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] for assistance. I believe they do have additional search filters, but it isn't likely that they would have any way of knowing whether a sitter has experience with blind dogs.

Having a practically blind dog myself, you may be better off with a house sitter because your dog would know his own environment and won't be all that hesitant to move around. I know my dog would probably just stay put and sleep rather than bump into objects and walls.

Whoever you choose, make sure you interview them and try to assess whether they're truly a caregiver and not just someone who wants to make a buck. Good luck.
