Is it a violation of TOS for a sitter to adjust rates based on size?

A sitter advertised his boarding service at $50. After our meet and greet, he modified the booking and increased the rate to $55 per night because he says the $50 rate is only a base rate. He says that he modifies all bookings based on the size of the dog. Our dog is 60 pounds. Is this allowed on Rover?

We have worked with dozens of sitters over many years and never encountered this from anyone else before. He says it is standard practice and that he has never had anyone react negatively to it.

You will need to ask Rover. The number is [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team].

Good question. All sitters are self employed. They do not work for Rover and can set their own pricing.

I was tempted to respond with that info, but it is Rover's TOS and only their Legal staff can answer that question.

Many Sitters will put the extra weight charges on their Profile Page but many times the owners do not read the sitter's Profile Page before they request their services.
