How do I get my first client?

Hi everyone!

I just signed into the community and I am wondering how to get my first client as someone new to this neighbourhood?

How long did it take you? I've started a few weeks ago and dropped my rates to quite low. No clients yet.

Just takes some patience but you’ll get some traction sooner than later. I’ve noticed the winter months are slower here in the Midwest also, but as more people travel it’ll only help you out with bookings.

I would say patience is key. Don’t be shy about sharing your code on your social media accounts and ask your friends and family to write reviews for you and share your promo code.

I was lucky and started in the summer when more folks are taking trips. I got my first booking within 2 weeks of creating a sitter profile. My last booking was a last minute request so I’d say the more flexible you can be, the better. Even if it is not a request that meets your preferences, it doesn’t hurt to take it when you’re just starting out so you can add more experience to your toolkit.

Take time to make sure your bio is thorough with lots of photos. As someone who has used River from the owner’s side, I always like reading about how the sitter plans on customizing their care for my pets and their past experiences with other clients’ pets.
