Will I get paid?

I recently had someone reach out to me for pet sitting services for his two dogs. We spoke on the phone as well as texted through the Rover number. He said it was an emergency so we set up the time(it was the same day) The booking wasn't confirmed but I went anyway(probably shouldn't have done that). I reached out and tried to book with him, thinking that he would eventually book..It was pending for a couple of days and then it was gone. Needless to say, I didn't get paid. I don't want to accuse him of deliberately doing that. Maybe he didn't know how to do it? Has this happened before? Is there a way I can resolve this?

Kindly, Emanuela Sedivec

NEVER perform any service on Rover without getting a confirmation from Rover that the customer has paid for the service. DO NOT accept a dog into your home without that confirmation. DO NOT take the leash, when an owner thrusts it into your hands and says they'll take care of it later but they're in a hurry. DO NOT put the key into the owner's home's lock or enter the code without getting a confirmation.

The owner is under no obligation to pay you. You could continue to communicate with him and say that he never completed the booking, and you can talk to Rover to see if this person has a good record on Rover. I have no idea whether they'll pursue it further, but you can ask. The number is [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. I am going to save you lots of time and guessing what you think a person is going to do. And please don't take my advice in any other way than my 55 years of dealing with the general public in the service industry. "Your Ball" Give the info requested in a polite business manner and let them know that if they have any more questions or concerns that you are happy to answer them. "Their Ball"Don't sit around wondering why they have not taken any action. It's their ball..they have the info. You can "Nudge" a booking by following up on request messaging only "Book now to confirm your request". If you get no reply send them to the archives. Unless booking is confirmed by payment through "Rover" you don't want to play ball. Next up !
