How do you charge for Extended Booking Rates and while house sitting do you charge for each dog walk?

Hello Sitters, I'm just wondering how you charge for the extra hours above the daily rate. I sometimes get asked to start early in the morning on day 1, then stay til late afternoon/early evening on the last day - yet don't get paid that final day - as the booking system is per NIGHT that you stay. How do you manage that?
Also, while house sitting, do you include dog walking fees? Or are they additional? For instance, if you take 2 or 3 dogs out for 3x a day? Do you charge per walk? Or do you include this in the daily house sitting charge? Thanks for any help.

Rover has implemented extended care and the additional amount is added automatically. It is calculated based on the drop-off and pickup times that the customer fills in.

  • If the extended care is more than 2 hours or up to 8 additional hours, clients will pay an additional amount that is 50% of your nightly rate.
  • If the extended care is more than 8 additional hours, clients will pay an additional amount that is 100% of your nightly rate.

As for your second question, house sitting should be considered an all-inclusive (and premium type) service, in the same manner as boarding, which includes 24 hours of care. Your rate should reflect that and I don't think it does.

Now that I see you are in the UK, I would double check yourself if the extended care automatic billing is in effect for your country. It only was implemented in the US last year.

Rover has extended hour rates but they seem to be off for me, so I do not use them. This is basically your business and Rover is a platform that offers marketing, etc. for you. I think the best business policy is to be transparent and upfornt on your pricing and what you are offering.

I put in my description that overnights are just that- overnights (I start 6-9pm at night until the next day 7-10am for the sitting price. I do tend to walk the dogs included in that price in the morning or evening, depending. That comes to about $5-$7/ hr. for 12-15hrs. (depending on what you charge).
If the client wants more care I have drop ins, extended drop ins , walks (30 min or 1 hr) and can do day pricing too. When the client decides what they want I go to
