Why did I receive a request for a drop in visit that is more than my maximum distance setting?

I received a booking request that is over 7 miles away from me. However, I have my maximum distance on my profile set to 4 miles. Why was someone able to send a booking request in the first place? I thought the whole point of the maximum distance setting was to prevent this from happening. How can I stop receiving drop in requests over my maximum distance? Thank you.

Mine is set at four miles and I just got someone I had to turn down over 10 miles away. I have gotten requests 30 or 40 minutes away before as well. I don’t get it either, but it makes me feel terrible to explain to them that their pet is too far away for me to want to take care of them.

I think Rover uses 'as the crow flies' for the distances. Sometimes the request I get is within the circle area of the map that shows my service area, but getting there is many more miles than I have my service area set to.

That makes sense. Thanks!

I reset my service radius to prevent this from happening. I will go 10 miles, but set my service area to 6 miles. Somehow either Rover or Google Maps is off by a few miles.

We all receive booking requests outside our service area and there is little you can do to prevent it from happening. Get a request outside your area just decline it
