How to follow-up a dog bite?
I'm on my third or fourth home stay with a dog. He's very sweet with me, but he has anxiety and is leash reactive towards dogs. When we see another dog on a walk, we'll cross the street, distract with treats, or have him sit. We also go on walks at times there are typically less dogs around and choose routes where there is plenty of space to redirect. I've always been transparent with his owners in the past about his behavior and asked for their advice on treats/toys that are most enticing to him when he's being more reactive.
During a past stay, he nipped at someone who approached us from behind and pet him without permission, but didn't break any skin. Otherwise, he's never shown any aggression towards a person, only dogs. During this stay, he lunged at a person who walked past us while we were on a walk and bit them. The person had to get two stitches and a tetanus booster. I told everything to the owners and got the person's contact information. Is there anything else I should do? Will I be held liable?
