My dog's hind legs no longer work. She will have to be helped to go outside. Can she be boarded?

My large dog is a labrador mix. She can't use her hind legs. Can she be boarded?

Possibly. Really it’s a matter of finding the right sitter, who is willing to help your dog make it outside. I am confident that there is a sitter who would be able to do this whether it’s for boarding at their home or housesitting in your home. It just may take more time to figure out who.

You can search sitters in your area and read through the profiles, trying to figure out who might be experienced in that regard… Or you can call rover customer support and ask them to help search (using filter criteria that they can use that is not visible to users of their site).

Re: Special needs pup/ Boarding ? I agree with Deb A. I just recently joined the "Rover: platform but have 40 years experience with all types of challenges . I would consult with your Vet and let him know how you manage this at home. I'm sure he could give you some guidance.. Just a thought , but have you ever seen how a patient is lifted out of of bed with a harness lift ? Might take some adapting but is a possibility. Bless your heart for caring so much about your pup. It's not easy. Happy Holidays to you & your family. Take care.

I agree with everything that Deb and Paula have suggested. Does your dog have wheels? I've seen those on dogs with hind leg issues. If so, then be sure to look for a sitter who has some experience and has a home without stairs. Good luck!
