Per NIGHT or ANIMAL?

If the site says $20 PER NIGHT why do they turn around and charge $20 per animal? This is very misleading and expensive per animal.
Please explain. Thank you.

Rover is a platform that connects sitters and clients. Rover does not say anywhere that sitters charge $20 a night. Just to explain this, sitters do not work for Rover. Sitters are independent contractors. They set their own rates, and they describe their services in their profile. That's why it may seem misleading, because the search option isn't good enough in order to search for your perfect sitter. That's unfortunate....

If you hire a sitter for house sitting at your house, the standard sitting is "per night" which means 24 hrs. Again, this should be set up in a better way in the app, but unfortunately it is not. So that makes things a little more complicated for you, because you are required to read the profile and see what the sitter actually includes in this service.

So, if you hire a sitter to stay at your house for 24 hours, the sitter drives to you, stays for 24 hours, takes care of your pets the way you discussed before booking and when done, the sitter drives back home.

Now, some sitters have an extra charge for any additional pet! Again, the app just doesn't give you an option to search for sitters who do not charge for each additional animal. Let's say you have 3 dogs, and the sitter charges $20 a night plus $10 for each additional pet. That means you'd be charged $40 per 24hrs. Now I am not exactly sure how this shows on a client's side, whether you can see the additional rates being shown, or if it only shows up when you are ready to send a request. I absolutely understand this could be disappointing and it would seem misleading. But that's not the sitter's fault. That's the way Rover's app is set up.

Some sitters charge a flate rate fee per 24 hrs, no matter how many pets you have. Again, every sitter is free to decide if she needs to be paid per pet or per night. I wish the search option would be improved, to avoid all this disappointment.

If this doesn't make sense, please call Rover directly, they will explain this to you much better than I did. Good luck! I hope you get to find the perfect match for your pets.

I agree this is annoying. I just booked a sitter, but when I looked at the total, I am paying $90 per night, rather than $45 per night. I would agree to some additional charge, but double the price to dump an extra scoop in the other dog bowl is nuts. I'm done with Rover after this next stay.
