Are there pet sitters without their own pets?

I'm considering a pet sitter that could either stay at my home or be a drop-in sitter twice daily, but my 2 dogs are not very socialized with other dogs. I also have two cats. Are there any pet sitters that would stay at my home but do not bring their own pets? Dogs are fine with people but I would worry about any conflicts with other dogs. This would be during vacations from 1-2 weeks at a time.

A sitter should not bring their pets into your home, they should be focused on your pets and keeping them safe and within their regular schedule. Maybe a play date is fine, but only if the pets know each other, or it is requested. I have been invited to bring my dogs, but never have.

Yes, there are both types of Rover sitters. You could have a Rover sitter come to stay at your home or do the 2x daily drop-ins. In either case, the sitter WOULD NOT bring any of their own pets into your home.

If you want the sitter to tend to your cats, you will need to list them in your profile too.

Make sure you contact a few sitters and interview them in person, discussing what you expect them to do.

Remember no sitter should be bringing their own pet into your home.

Thank you. First time on this site so I'm still learning how to use it. Wish I could correct my typo in my tag line. 🙄

Do you not see the "Edit" right after your question? I do.

Thanks Karen. I didn't notice it until I read this comment.

Correction no Pet Sitter should bring their 'pet' except for one such as myself. I have a Service Dog for medical reasons who comes with me. She can ignore other dogs n animals bc of her extensive training. This is the only exception.

When I joined Rover, 4 yrs ago, my sweet toy poodle, Olivia, has recently passed away. She was 16. I couldn't afford to get another dog so I began dog sitting on Rover which has worked out very nicely for me. I love dogs so I get my dog fix sitting either daycare or overnight and I love it. It's compatible to being a grandma.

Looking for someone like you-my dog doesn’t play well with others all the time. Prefer a sitter with no pets and that she is the only dog staying with the sitter

Rover pet sitters should NOT ever bring other pets to your house (unless requested otherwise).

After you list all your pets' profiles, then you decided on whether you'd prefer someone to stay in your home the whole time you are away (that's called House-sitting), or if you would rather have a pet sitter drop in to check on your animals few times a day. Since you have two dogs and you only need two drop ins a day, then it most likely sounds you have a house with a doggy door, and you do not need your dogs to be walked, as they can go in and out anytime they want. But you need them and the cats (4 pets) to be fed twice a day. If you are OK with them all being alone all day, all night in your house, with no supervision, except for 2 daily visits, then drop in option is the best bet for you. If you'd rather have someone to supervise your 4 pets, and maybe just for the safety of everyone, I would suggest you get a house-sitter. After you review profiles of Rover sitters, and you find one (or two) who seem like they are the best fit for you and your dogs, just send a request and a description of your expectations and concerns. Ask all questions you can think of! Make sure to express your pets must not be approached by any other pets, and no other pets are allowed to come over. YES, I know, you should not even be saying this, this should be a sure thing, but from my experience, it's better to throw it all out there, JUST in case. It's better to communicate all expectations and requests in advance. Good luck to you.

Only exception is a person with a Service Dog, however, it would be stated in their profile such as it is with mine bc of medical reasons. My Service Dog can completely ignore dogs n animals bc of her extensive training.

Since this post is renewed, it’s worthwhile to add that some sitters do have friendly dogs that will add to dogs’ happy experience and will be with them, for whatever service is provided. This needs to be discussed in messages and during the meet and greet, before booking. Rover sitters offer all different types of arrangements. Please contact those who seem like the best match for your pet. Understandably, some dogs as well as cats will not do well with another dog entering their home. Some other dogs actually benefit from a well behaved, nice dog offering canine companionship, as they communicate differently than humans and can give each other some things than even the most caring humans cannot.

I think it is confusing because when I signed up as a sitter it asked if you have a pet. I do but I wouldn't bring them to my jobs.
