Since this post is renewed, it’s worthwhile to add that some sitters do have friendly dogs that will add to dogs’ happy experience and will be with them, for whatever service is provided. This needs to be discussed in messages and during the meet and greet, before booking. Rover sitters offer all different types of arrangements. Please contact those who seem like the best match for your pet. Understandably, some dogs as well as cats will not do well with another dog entering their home. Some other dogs actually benefit from a well behaved, nice dog offering canine companionship, as they communicate differently than humans and can give each other some things than even the most caring humans cannot.

Is Rover right for my dog?*
At Rover we know that every dog, cat, and pet parent is unique. Our marketplace of pet sitters and dog walkers—the largest in the world—is designed to help you find your perfect match. You’ll find a variety of sitters and dog walkers to suit every quirk, charm, and special need.
Some sitters have pets of their own for your dog to play with, while others offer plenty of one-on-one attention. Read verified reviews from pet parents like you, browse sitter and dog walker profiles, and then contact a sitter or dog walker who seems like a good match.
A sitter should not bring their pets into your home, they should be focused on your pets and keeping them safe and within their regular schedule. Maybe a play date is fine, but only if the pets know each other, or it is requested. I have been invited to bring my dogs, but never have.
