Is there a trick to finding a pet sitter?

I've tried contacting 4 different pet sitters, but no one has responded. I've included the dates, information about my dog, suggested a Meet & Greet and possibly a trial run overnight, but nothing seems to be working. Is there something you could suggest?

I am sorry to hear this app hasn't been working out for you well, but don't give up. Are you using your phone or your computer? I am not sure if everyone is seeing what I am seeing, but if I am on my computer, I see many sitters with an "away" status for their services. BUT if i am using my phone, I don't see the Away status, but I see them as available.

Another reason can be that sitters are overwhelmed with requests right now! Everyone is looking for a sitter now and Rover is the biggest thing in the US. So some just do not even respond if they are not interested.

What is the trick to find the perfect match?
Always read their profile and all information before sending a request. You'd be surprised how many people do not read the information on sitters profile! For example : The sitter states she can NOT board intact dogs or a specific breed due to insurance/HOA rules etc, and then she gets a request for an intact dog. I know it sounds like a silly little thing, but in my opinion, if the owner can't be bothered to read my profile (or don't want to), it says this person is going to be very difficult to deal with. I am not saying that's you, just trying to come up with reasons why sitters ignore requests...

Also, is your profile updated with information and a picture of your dog? A lot of sitters do not want to engage in a conversation with a person whose profile is empty and doesn't have a picture of their dog.

One more thing, did you contact those 4 people separately or did you just select all of them and sent them a generic message? I have had this happen before when a potential client messages a sitter and uses her name (Hello "Jane" I am looking for a sitter...) and then sends it to a bunch of other sitters. I personally don't respond to these messages, or I just let them know they probably meant to send this to Jane, and not to me :D

Oh, also, when people suggest a trial run with their dog, sometimes it means there's going to be issues, and some sitters just don't want to deal with it. Or people send them their direct number and ask to be contacted directly, which is the biggest red flag.

I hope this helps, good luck with finding your perfect sitter! There's many many amazing and caring sitters on this site and I am sure you'll find the one you are looking for. Good luck.

With the pandemic, many Rover sitters have shut shop yet still have a Rover profile and show available but they aren't. I suggest you try several more sitters or find an independent sitter in your local area: https://www.localpetcare.com/

You've done every thing I'd suggest in contacting sitters. I'd suggest calling rover Customer Support [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] and let them know. They can review your activity and see who isn't responding for the appropriate follow up and also help reach out to other potential sitters on your behalf.

I really can Not advocate the link previously supplied, because in my area, I'm very familiar with the companies that show up in the results. They do not operate their business in the home based business model, comparative to rover, which is what I'd think you're seeking. (Basically, I wouldn't consider them for my dog, so I won't recommend to others.)
