Pets birthday date?

When looking at the pets profile it says 10 years 10 months, for example. Is the birthdate from todays date or the date the owner signed up? In another words do the dates listed update? I would like to give clients a gift for their pets birthday.

When a client creates their profile they are prompted to add a pet. At that time they enter the number of years and months old the pet is. From that point, forward Rover adds to their age. But I would directly ask the owner in case they made an error with the entry.
