Overnight House/Dog Sit charge?

I have two dogs. I recently booked a sitter to stay at our house and watch the dogs for a week while we are traveling. I was charged for each dog. Is that normal? Is there a way to know this ahead of time if the sitter charges per dog or by stay? My other sitter does not charge me twice.

Every sitter on Rover is independent and sets his/her own rates. You can always look at the sitter's rates before you book. They are on the sitter's profile page. Some sitters will charge per dog. Some sitters might have a lesser amount for the "additional dog." Some might not charge anything additional, but I would have no way of knowing how prevalent that is on Rover.

You do see the total charges before you confirm the booking and, hopefully, you had a Meet & Greet with the sitter beforehand. You also have the ability to interview several sitters before deciding on the one who fits your needs best. Obviously, since cost is a key concern, I would have thought you would have read through sitters profiles to find one that you liked for the right price.

If you don't like what this sitter is charging, then you can always cancel and book someone else. I would hope you take the time to find an appropriate one first before booking.

When you request a sitter you fill out dates and times, sitters near you available fir the dates and times requested are listed. The listing also shows each sitters rates. So you did have to select the sitter. In view details you can click and get an exact breakdown of charges and the total. The price for the second dog would have been clearly listed here. This information is available as soon as you have selected the sitter so you would have had a chance to review it before you pressed book or accepted the request from the sitter. You also could have asked the sitter before booking. As the previous answer states, each sitter has different rates for services.

I’m in the same boat. I DID read the sitter information and no where did it say PER ANIMAL. I have 7 animals who need minimal attention twice a day but no way I spending 600$. That’s more than the whole vacation costs.

Grace, unless you see a reduced "additional" animal (dog/cat) rate in the sitter's rate table (you have to click on **See Additional Services & Rates),** then you would be charged the full amount PER animal. The assumption is per animal unless specified otherwise.
