Can I wash my puppy twice in one week?

My friend and I each adopted 8 week old puppy siblings. When we got them a few days ago we washed them and noticed fleas after the shower. Is it okay to wash them again in the same week this time with Sentry Flee oatmeal shampoo for dogs and puppies? They have vet appointments in 8 days.

For questions like this, a vet(especially one you've set up an appointment with) likely would answer over the phone. The probably will ask when & what treatment, if any, was communicated to you from whoever you adopted from. It's important to find out because nobody wants to over-do it with serious medical consequences, some treatments are known to be more effective than others, and there are time frames when they need to be repeated.

Baths should be lukewarm water and whatever dog shampoo is appropriate. In a pinch, some people will use Dawn dish washing soap, liquid blue formula. You definitely don't want fleas biting puppies and you, so some steps need to be taken immediately. Besides baths, get a flea comb (under $10), so you can comb out fur after anytime exposed to outdoors, alternating dipping comb in bowl of sudsy warm water in between stroking through fur. Also, you need to quickly wash anything that can go in washing machine in hot sudsy water-bedding, towels, etc. (Warm water will not kill flea eggs and break the cycle) and Vacuum all floors, take the vacuum outside to remove the bag and toss immediately even if it's not full, otherwise you risk the eggs hatching. This diligence washing everything and vacuuming needs to be repeated over and over again.

Thank you! I called the vet and they recommended a bath with Dawn soap twice before our appointment in a week. The first bath today definetly helped!
