Could a medical professional say if we can pick up coronavirus from an infected person petting our dog?

I like to take my dog to the dog park but he is friendly and runs up to people and of course they pet him. He may be a bit far from me when it happens for me to easily intercede. Any suggestions? I simply have stopped going to the dog park in the meantime.

I'm not a medical pro, but it's not a good time to go to dog parks, where people congregate and touch the same objects such as gate latches, seating areas, watering areas, etc.

In addition, I'd advocate against dog parks on the basis that dogs can contract illnesses (intestinal parasites, round-, hook-, whip-, tape-, ring-, heart- worms, coccidia, giardia, leptospirosis, fleas, ticks canine flu, distemper. kennel cough) and serious potentially fatal diseases such as parvo virus which can live in ground soil for years, and the list goes on....

Your vet should be able to give you an answer, but the dog parks are closed in my city.
