Scam: Text from a possible client then immediate call asking for my Zelle account information?

I am very new to this service - I haven't yet even watched a dog. I received a text (from an LA number) asking if I could watch a dog "on Mar 13" (aka TODAY). I didn't respond yet but then got a call from another LA number saying that the person who just contacted me was using an invalid (I think that's the the word used) payment option and that I should decline. The guy went on to say that I had a "red flag" on my account, and then asked me to confirm my cell phone number (which I did, but he was calling me on this number, so...?) and then told me that PayPal is down and that they're switching to Zelle for payments, and I would get a text to confirm something. The text essentially asked for my Zelle email and password, which set off lots of red flags and eventually led to me ending the call. I reported the person; looking at their profile they started their membership today, didn't have an address loaded, etc.

I guess my main question is how was this person able to get my cell phone number? I see the option Private Rover Number, and can see the cell phone number of the fake client, but where is mine visible? Sorry if this is obvious and I'm missing it. Thanks, this is just very unsettling to have to deal with so soon to starting this service.

Also, why is "Suspicious Request" not an option when declining a request?

Glad you caught on before giving out info.

Rover assigns a toll free 858 phone number to each person that re-directs to your cell phone\email, without disclosing that number to the other person. Each of your future Rover clients, will see a different rover number for you when they want to contact you. When you see the profile of a real or fake client, you will see the rover number for them. All of this results in our personal numbers being hidden securely from each other.

There's a little flag to Report conversation (which basically is what you want to report the suspicious request). As a double measure, if you can, I'd suggest call rover support to report the conversation so they can take immediate action on that person's account.
