Has anyone had to set boundaries with pet parents who are nervous to leave their pets?

Hello,

I have a client who is boarding with me for the first time this coming week. Her dog will be with me for about 15 nights. We had a meet and greet and it went well. The dog is awesome. It came up and licked me on the face, so I know it was comfortable (and well, liked me). Then, a few days later the owner asked for another meet and greet -- she wanted to bring her dog and go on a walk with me when she took her dog on a walk. She said she was concerned about how her dog would feel about being left with me after only having met me once. I know this is about her, and I told her I know it can be scary to leave a dog, and asked her what would make her more comfortable. She said having a photo of her dog once per day would help, but I'm concerned about her continuing to ask for me for more. While I understand that, dog sitting is my side gig and I need to be able to keep up with my full-time job while also watching her dog. (I will have some days off while I sit her dog, but for the most part, he'll be hanging out with me as I work from home, as will my dog).

I told the owner she could come and go on a walk with me and my dog (unpaid) before she leaves hers for his stay.

Has anyone else had experience with a nervous pet parent? If so, how did you set boundaries?

Any tips to pass onto nervous pet parents?

Thanks!
