Per Day or Per Dog?

We had a friend lined up who had to cancel at the last minute, so we set up with Rover 48 hours before our flight. My daughter booked us with a sitter for our very sweet 3 small dogs, (total weight of all 3 is 15 pounds). I have the messages between the sitter and her, and the sitter was told 3 dogs. Sitter came went over everything, loved the dogs, sent her off with a house key.
24 hours before our flight the Rover Sitter wanted triple payment for the three dogs. I already paid Rover. Is this unusual, or normal Rover Sitter practice? My daughter sits through Rover, and this paying triple is nothing we were aware of.

I had to cancel, and find someone else, not through Rover, and pray that all will go well, since our flight is now 20 hours away.

That's super sketchy, once the booking is confirmed it means you agreed to that price. If they wanted to be paid more they should have discussed that prior to you booking them. That's really rotten of them to pull that.

I agree. Also, if you see that all 3 of their dogs aren't checked on the request, you can let the client know and check the other 2 off as well. It is per dog, but sitters have a single dog rate, along with a rate for a 2nd or 3rd. The sitter should have caught that and let you know before you paid!

Sorry to hear your having so many issues. As Brooke mentioned, once you book with a sitter your price is locked in. However, if the reservation has not been booked yet, then yes the Sitter can adjust the price. In fairness the price should be per dog(s) not per day. Yes, they all may be small little dogs but the sitter does still need care for all 3 dogs and should be paid for 3 dogs. This is something that should of been discussed during the meet and greet. but if the reservation was already booked no the sitter can not change the price afterwards the reservation has been confirmed.

Rover looks down on sitters who cancel after booking had been confirmed, it almost is not allowed. Rover team will have a review process on the situation with that sitter. Rover also offers a guarantee to where if the sitter cancels last minute, Rover Support will help you find another sitter on short notice. If the other sitter is more expensive, they will cover the cost difference. I would recommend contacting Rover support.
