I, too, would recommend that you do some sort of advertisement. Perhaps make up flyers that you could put up in pet-related areas (pet stores, vet offices, groomers, dog parks, etc). Also, the Rover Store sells business cards and I recommend those; they're pretty inexpensive.

I got my first request a couple of weeks after I signed up, but I joined in the summer.

It's going to depend a lot on your area and how much advertising you do for yourself. When I started on Rover (in spring, 2014), I didn't do any outside advertising and it took about a month after my profile was activated to get my first request, which turned into a booking. After that, it took another month for the second, and the third, and after that requests started coming in more regularly (it was also summer by then, which tends to be busier). If you put in the effort to advertise, I'm sure you can speed that process up a bit. Even as a highly ranked sitter the requests can ebb and flow depending on the time of year, depending on the market in your area.

Good luck!

I believe it has to do a lot with your area and of course the time of year. I got approved July tenth and my first booking was only 4 days later with no advertising.
