Owner booked a house sitting but really wanted drop-in visits?

This is more as a heads-up to other sitters of a weird situation I was recently in, rather than a question. Someone booked a house sitting gig with me - I don't own a car, so their place was an hour by public transportation from where I live and 30 minutes from work. I was okay with that though because I would be spending the night.

Only problem was, when I went to meet her and her dogs, she got very uncomfortable with the idea of me staying over but said it was fine. Because it seemed so awkward to stay over and I didn't want to lose the gig, I just told her I would only stop by.

Since her place was so far from mine, I ended up spending extra money on ubers/eating out than I normally would.

On top of it, she never gave me her wifi password so I couldn't just hang out there in between walks (these were 2 golden pups in a 500sq ft apartment, so they needed 3 walks a day). I had to walk over to a nearby cafe so that I could work that weekend, which meant more extra money out of my pocket.

Obviously, in hind-sight I would have told her straight up that she booked a house sitting - I never did this, so I can't blame what happened. But wanted to share this with others so maybe this can be avoided in the future. If I had known she wanted me to stop by and walk them, I would not have taken the gig since it was so far from my house.
