How can I tell which house sitters charge by night only as opposed to per dog per night?

Normally when I have a house sitter, it is one price for the night - not a price per dog/cat per night. $95 per night for 2 small dogs and a feral cat that only needs his food dish filled is excessive.

I agree. I’m finding this very expensive 38 per animal for 2 dogs and a cat. No walks but want house sitter. No discount for second dog or for cat.

The beauty of using Rover is that there are many Rover sitters to choose from, and each sets their own rates. Typically they do not do a 'one price for all', but break it down by animal. And, rate structures vary as well, Some do charge full price for second animal, some discount them. Cat rates can vary as well..from nothing to a few dollars. If you need a feral cat outdoors fed, that's a bit different and by asking. a sitter may waive any cat fees (if they charge them).

Lastly, the area you live in plays a large role in overall rates. I would take some time to look through the sitters, their profiles and rates. I think you should find something you find reasonable.

Ditto what Walt said. However, as someone who has done doggy care for years and knows other dog sitters, I've never known a sitter to charge the same for 2 or 3 dogs/pets as they do for 1. There is usually a smaller fee for each additional pet. If you had sitters before that charged the flat rate you either were very lucky or they quoted you that price knowing it was 3 pets. Good Luck!

All Rover sitters establish their own rates and charge what they think is appropriate for their services. Depending on the situation and the numbers of pets being cared for a sitter may lower their rate and this is something you can discuss with your selected potential sitter. And when searching if you are on a sitters profile look on the left of the page under the additional rate section, that is an indicator of what that sitter will charge.

This is frustrating to us as well. Someone stays in my home, eats my food, swims in my pool and instead of adding maybe $10 for the second and third dog (and listing it in the additional services) they want to charge me the $40 for each dog. I don’t even have them walk my boys. Rover really needs to address this. We have used them twice and now I see one sitter took the additional dog fee off. I don’t want to haggle, I want to know prior to booking.
