How do I know if a dog is deaf?
I would like to know if my dog is deaf.

Taking your Dog in to your Veterinarian, he/she would be able to let you know.
First make sure his/her ears are clean. Moisten a cotton ball with warm water and a bit of hydrogen peroxide or canine ear cleaner, gently wipe out the ears. Try clapping loudly when your pup is not looking at you. Does the dog react to whistling? Loud noises? Ask your vet to perform a BAER test.
My in laws have a puppy they just found out was deaf. My mother in law clanged to pots together loudly behind the puppy to see if the puppy would react, the puppy did not react in anyway. So she took him to the vet and yep he is a deaf dog.
In general, deaf puppies are harder to train because they don't hear your commands. But, you need to distinguish between downright disobedience and deafness in your pup by using visual commands.
