The belly band is leaving a dark color on our white poodle. It looks like tear stains, but on his belly. There's no way we want to stop the belly bands. He pees often and still marks if not wearing a belly band. Any suggestions?

I don't know how old your pups are and if there is still young and training, But rubbing their noses in their own pee helped with my pup.

A white or gray poodle will stain from regular licking, or tear stains at the eyes so I would expect the same would apply with the belly band. You didn’t say how old your pup is, or how long the belly band is left on at a time. It may help to have several bands so they can be changed frequently. It may also help to give him more frequent baths with a mild shampoo.

It’s just staining, so I’d recommend keeping it since the stain isn’t hurting him, but also to get some training under his belt so he stops with the bad behavior.

I had an older dog that became semi-incontinent. I would clean him regularly with mild dog soap and make sure he was dry before putting his band back on. I would often use a diaper rash cream product as well, since that coats the skin so the urine is not just soaking the skin. Leaving a belly band on for extended periods of time and having a dog wet consistently will cause the skin to sort of tighten as well, which may cause you alarm if you haven't experienced that before. It is nothing to worry about, though.
