I'd like to meet the sitter before leaving my dog with her; how do we do that?

I want to find a sitter to make sure everything is good before I need them. Things come up suddenly and I want to know the person and place is ok before I need to book. So if I don’t actually have dates how can I arrange this.

Ditto what Erica said! If you're new to Rover and trying to figure out how it works you can always contact Rover support and they will walk you through it. But essentially when you've done the search for the dates you need a sitter you can read their profiles and send a booking request. This is just a placeholder and is NOT a confirmation of a booking. After you send the request, the Rover sitter will respond acknowledging your request and may have some additional questions for you regarding your pet(s). They will likely suggest a Meet & Greet; if not you should request one. You can send as many initial requests and do as many Meet & Greets as you'd like. When you find a sitter that you like and they agree to care for you dog(s) the booking should be finalized. I hope that helps! Good luck and welcome to Rover!!

Yes, Rover recommends that the sitters and owners both meet prior to finalizing any reservation to make sure that you are a good match for each other. You still want to enter all of your information, your pets info. and select the dates that you are going to be needing a sitter for. Once you find a sitter you are interested in, you can see if they are available and schedule a meet and greet with that sitter. You can schedule as many meet and greets as you would like, until you find the perfect sitter for you and your pet. (There are no charges for Meet and Greets).

Hopefully this helps!

Welcome to Rover, hope you find an amazing sitter for you and your pet!

What others have said here mostly, Rover support is here to help but so is your sitter so communication is key!

As for the "how" I just wanted to add that there is a button in your chat with the sitter that should say "schedule a meet" and you can input details there. Of course, my view is that of a sitter but I imagine a client can do the same. If not, ask your care provider to schedule one with your specifications and don't forget to include your address (we don't get it until the booking is approved officially). If they don't agree to a meet or they seem wishy-washy I'd recommend looking to a different provider. Most of us are happy to do meets because it benefits everyone!
