How can I get my first Rover customer? I feel like I have a good profile and everything needed to attract someone. I am so excited to start!! I have been waiting patiently for a few days now. How long should I continue waiting?

Someone messaged me yesterday about sitting their dog. I was so excited, but she texted me saying she no longer needed me. I feel like my prices are lower to start with but still no one else has contacted me.

Did you know you are marked as unavailable for half of the next few months, for boarding? You won't get any requests for those dates.

I did not, but thanks for pointing that out! I just changed it. Can you please let me know if it is fixed?

You've got availability! Next up, I'd say get some testimonials from friends/family who can speak to your abilities as a dog caregiver/owner. No testimonials is like an anchor around a new sitter's neck!

Being proactive by advertising your services (business cards, flyers etc.) can give you a boost in business.

It took me forever as well. While I was waiting to get clients, I took the Rover Now harness test and the online quizzes and became a Rover Now walker. This allowed me to walk dogs and get more pictures for my profile (and make money). I also dropped my prices for my other types of stays and eventually I got contacted and hired. This led to good reviews and more people contacted me. I guess it's time to hike my prices a bit!

The Rover Now feature is fun because you just say yes and show up and walk the dog. No meet-n-greet or any other waiting around...

I completely agree with Cindy & Stephen. Your calendar shows you're only available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for most of 2019. I'd think that will seriously limit any bookings. Many people who want walks and drop in visits need open weekday availability to cover when they're at work or away and many people who want to board a pet want to book more than just 3 days, only 1 of which is a weekend day. Marina gave good advice about being proactive, but in order to book often you have to be available when people need you.

Thank you! I updated my calendar, so hopefully that helps. I appreciate the feedback.

It takes time. Been there :) And it's SLOW now, just wait around Christmas, Summer, Thanksgiving etc...

A lot of my clients "LIKE" for their pets to get on the bed and furniture. A lot of my clients don't care for roommates. Majority of my clients want a fenced-in yard.

Yes it will take time, and the right people will find you! Good luck! :)

Thank you for your feedback! I changed it so that it is set on "allowed on furniture" and "allowed on bed." I really do not mind! Because I live in an apartment, I do not have a fenced in yard, but my apartment does have a fenced in bark park!

Take and pass the Rover 101 quiz and get the badge it is important. https://www.rover.com/rover-101/?fbcl...

If you are very interested in walks and drop-ins you may want to see how large you set your service area, in the begining 10 miles can help you get those first few clients. https://www.rover.com/account/profile...

And don't get discouraged as it takes time for many sitters to get those first bookings

Thank you for your response! I took the quiz and passed, so hopefully that will help. I also have a 15 radius mile.
