How much to charge for drop-in cat visits?

I got a request for one drop-in visit for 2 cats during the holidays. I'm new to Rover so I'm not sure what to charge her. My cat sitting visits are set to 20 per visit. The client told me she was being charged $697 and then asked me if I could do it for $23 per day. I'm assuming she means $23 a day for both cats.

Does this sound like it's too little? Just enough?

I know Rover takes 20% so I have to take that into account as well.

You didn't state the number of days so I'm backing in to the $697 for the booking. First the client is being charged a service fee of $25 for the booking. I assume holiday rates are being applied? 2 cats with holiday rate would be $28 + $20 or $48 a day/visit so the booking is 14 days correct?

So how far do you have to travel to visit the home? Does it take a lot of time? Cats typically require a lot less care than dogs, you feed them, fill the water bowl and clean the litter box each visit.

As a new sitter what is more important to you acquiring a new client or the money? If you stick with $48 a day the client may move on and find someone else to provide care, I probably would. Is $23 a day reasonable, probably! So if you accept the clients offer you will net $257.60 after Rover fees are taken. If it were me I would probabably accept the clients offer and accept at $23. Best of luck

Okay that makes sense. And yes it is for 14 days. I wouldn't have to travel far and I was told the cats are easy going. I went with my gut last night and said I would do it for 23. As I'm new to Rover I'm trying to get a sense of what's reasonable to charge for different services.

For cats-only drop in visits i charge my regular dog drop in rate for the first cat ($18) and $5 for each additional. So I would be charging $23/visit in this situation. I usually add $5/day for holidays just for the inconvenience but that is up to you. Since you're new you might offer to waive the holiday rate and just charge the $23. I charge less for additional cat care because there is less involved than with dog visits.
