Reporting an owner?

I'm in a weird position. I got asked to watch a dog while I was away and the person just had to randomly leave. I told them I wasn't available until X date and they said the dog would be fine until then, thinking that maybe they had a feeder and water system set up. I get to the home to take care of the dog and it is in a crate for presumably 24 hours, if not more, no access to food or water. The house is a disaster, moldy dishes in the sink, mold in the trash can that I have to keep getting the dog away from, the back yard is not clean and it isn't an area of town I feel comfortable walking a dog in.

The owners said they were moving, but honestly, I'm afraid of bringing something home to my animals with how this house is, not to mention the conditions the dog is in. What can I do?

You can always contact Rover support but there is little they can do to help you. You did accept a booking without a meet and greet and understandabley upset by the condition of the house and possibly the dog isn't being treated well also. You can also report them to animal control and let them investigate to see if the dog isn't being cared for properly. Best of luck

I concur with Walt, contact Rover support and report to your local animal control.
