Do I need to get the background check in order to be accepted?

I've tried getting in contact with Rover by email, but I'm having trouble. Anyway, I figured I would come here, but does Rover require the background check in order for your account to be accepted? I've been on the site for over (3) weeks and still haven't been accepted. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that it isn't a requirement, but I haven't been accept though?

No, it is not a requirement. Purely voluntary.

Um, my profile says I need to complete it...I don't mind either but I don't feel like paying for the fee myself when Rover, "pet owners" aka "animals kidnappers", and the animals themselves also benefit from me taking it. Why should I suffer alone for everyone else to benefit? WTF. Not fair to me.

You'll notice that my original answer was from 2015, when background checks were not mandatory as they now are. The cost of the background check can be deducted as a business expense on your income taxes.

No, you are not required to complete the background check to be accepted; however, getting the check will definitely help you in the listings and will help you attract new clients when you're new. I see your page is pending, so Rover should be going over your profile to make sure it meets their requirements before being posted. You may want to go back through the questions and picture requirements just to be sure you've added everything they ask for, and that might expedite the process.

It's definitely not required, but I definitely recommend it. It only took my profile a few days to get approved, so I would call them and see if there's a problem.
