Can you begin working without a background check, and get one when you earn money?

I have not had a job in over three years and live off of $185, which is just enough for me to get by that is why it was suggested I try this service. I enjoy animals, I am good with them, and I need an extra income so I cannot really afford the background check until I make a little money first.

Doubtful. Rover would not allow your application to go through without the background check. You could always contact them at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] but I wouldn't expect them to do so.

I second Karen's answer. And Rover shouldn't be considered as a way to make a quick buck as it is hard work and the money doesn't really flow in until you are established.

I agree with both previous answers. We are new on Rover but have done pet sitting in the past. We do it because we love it and if you can earn money doing something you love you will be better at it. We had background checks and did not have to pay for them. My understanding is there is a more in depth check that there is a charge for but the basic check is free. Hope this helps you. Good Luck

Individual states determine if there is a charge for a background check, not Rover
