Is there petsitting at night available by the hour just like I'd do when hiring a babysitter?

I'm vistiting from out of town and have a dinner engagement to attend. I don't want to leave my dog alone in a strange environment in case he barks while I'm away. Does Rover offer nightime & evening dogsitting by the hour just like I'd do to hire a babysitter? Or 'Daycare' for the evening hours at the sitter's home? Will they provide the service when staying at a friend's home? hotel room? rental unit? How much would they charge and how would I book & pay for it since that is not an option offered on the menu? Also how can I do a search to find sitters who'd be willing to provide this service? Again, there is no option provide on the menu. This will probably not be a one time occurance also since I need to frequently come to town and bring my dog.

Absolutely, there are sitters that offer evening care. In my area, some who are not available for day care hours prefer evening care at their home and some will travel to the dog. Like Karen mentioned, if you'd like your dog to stay at the sitter's home, search boarding and/or if you'd like the sitter to travel to the dog at a hotel room, rental unit, of friend's place, search house sitting. In the messages, tell the sitters what you'd need. I'd expect the rate would be more than the walk rate, but less than boarding / house sitting rates.

Rover does not have a mechanism for sitters to charge by the hour. However, you should do a search for sitters who either board dogs or ones who perform what is called house sitting. In your case, it could be done at a hotel if that is where you are staying. Discuss what you need with these sitters and I am sure you could find ones who will do some form of custom booking that might reflect an hourly type charge except that it is billed as a flat amount.

I believe they would. Find a sitter that you like. You can "Contact Sitter" and explain your situation as well as ask if they can modify their rate by the hour. For example if they charge $36/overnight - can they "Edit" the rate to $3 per hour? I've done this on Holiday's where they just need their sweetheart out from underfoot. Your a wonderful person for caring so much about your baby.

$3 an hour. Are you serious? Can you imagine being booked for 5 hours at night and only getting $15? That's what some sitters charge for a 30 minute drop-in.

That's actually the response I would expect from a new sitter, not a good answer Ron & Shellie
