Why is there a Red Dot on inbox?

In my mobile app, there is a red dot on the top right corner of the inbox button.

I have no idea what it means or how it got there. It seemed to appear once I finished a booking. I have no new pending or upcoming messages. I have archived anything else, so my inbox is fully organized.

I have notifications set to "all the time" and no quiet hours set.

What does this red dot mean? Can I get rid of it? I've seen questions of red dots on owner profiles, but this seems to be only on my inbox - no other profile.

Hey guys, what if it’s referring to the purple “review this stay” that appears after a booking??

I’ll clear mine out and see what happens

Your unread messages can be in the current inbox, prior stays or your archive folder - Rover doesn't always do a good job with clearing messages you have already seen.

I’m just confused because I literally have 0 unread messages. I haven’t gotten a message in days but all of a sudden the dot shows up?

If you can check from your PC, if you have unread message they will show here https://www.rover.com/account/inbox/?ref=header

But this can also be just another Rover flaw in the App

I checked the PC site multiple times too. No messages. It’s probably just a glitch then, but I hate it LOL

My friend and I are Rover sitters too and it’s maddening! We’ve checked our unread messages in all categories and there isn’t one. Doesn’t make sense - since it used to represent an unread message. Just got a message on the phone - re messages that can be found in a new spot- but nothing...

So I think the app just updated or something for me but now there's a little notification bell in my inbox that was never there before. Rover's just promoting itself. That was where the dot was coming from.

Yeah, the bell is info from Rover. Red dot is new messages. Minus one :D

Agree- saw the change yesterday- not too long after my last post here. New bell in upper right hand corner of the app- and the message about finding new notifications here. Wish we would get emails on these enhancements - before they show up.

Just another failure to communicate - how about killing one message about taking stay pictures and replace it with feature updates

I hate the Rover app so much! Notification badge says 3 new messages, and so the hunt begins. New booking request? Current stay? How about a follow up message from someone archived from 8 months ago? Then, when you finally find it, it is ONE msg, not 3. ERMAHGERD.

It's 2022 and I'm still having this issue of seeing a red dot on my messages icon, and have no clue as to what message I didn't read. I swear I went through off all of them. They really need to highlight the unread message somehow, so we know which one it is and set it to cleared once we read it
