Got my son a puppy for his birthday, but his birthday isn't until December. Has anyone done long term boarding (longer than 30 days) ?

I think you will have some difficulty finding a sitter that is willing to take on a young puppy for 2 months. They will not only be sitting but doing the basic puppy training. This is also a very important bonding time in a puppy's life. If you leave this puppy with a sitter, the bond with your son won't be as strong as it would be if he cared for the puppy.

In my opinion, it would be a huge mistake to board a puppy to wait for a date. Give him the puppy early, or wait until his birthday to get a puppy. This isn't an inanimate object, its a living creature that you can't just put on a shelf while the days tick by. (He will also miss the early puppy days, which are amazing!)

Yes. There are sitters who will board long term and sitters who will board puppies. I'd suggest using/selecting both filters when searching sitters. You may also want to filter further by someone who only hosts 1 pet at a time and doesn't have pets of their own, especially if puppy hasn't been fully vaccinated.
