why are the actual rates charged different than the sitter's service profile rates?

service rates in profile state $40/night but the actual rate charged for a standard night is saying $50/night...?

Sounds like the sitter's holiday rate may be in effect. Is this during a holiday period? Click on the "Additional Rates" link in the table on the profile and you will see holiday rates. If it is not during a holiday period, then contact the sitter and/or Rover Customer Support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed.
