What should I charge for longer daytime visits?

I am wondering how to come up with a good rate, perhaps by the hour, for watching a dog in the owner's home. This would be a stay for a number of consecutive hours but would not include staying overnight.

I might just use my day care rate if I was going to be in their home for the whole day but not spending the night.

I would use your house sitting rate as that rate covers 24 hours or you can use your drop-in rate plus a multiplier to cover the additional hours. Best of luck

I recently have done this and this is what I did/suggest. My owners did not think their dogs could go 4 hours without potty break because someone is home a lot and lets them out more frequent then that. So I charged for 2 daily visits instead of one and agreed to stay up to 4 hours in a row IF I could do work from their home on my computer or on some days did 1 hour each stay instead of 30 minutes and only 2-3 hours between visits. This worked for the owner and me.
