Regarding the background check, do I have to renew this? Also I really do not feel comfortable putting in my SSN?

I have dog sat for at least 5 years in my neighborhood and I thought now that I live in Philadelphia this is the perfect opportunity to get some extra cash. I saw that there is a background check you have to pay for...which I am fine with, but I am traveling abroad in 2 months to another country for 5 months. Will I have to renew the background check??
