While pet sitting, dog escaped and was hit by car, is this an autoban from Rover?
I was pet sitting two dogs, one was young the other was very old. The young one has been marking up the house, but it was understandable, new place, new smells, new people. Three days into watching the dogs, the younger one escapes the yard and gets hit by a car. He didn't climb a fence, nor dig under, the yard is secure, he bolted out the gate while someone was leaving. Prior, he had not ever tried to bolt, nor attempted anything of the sort, he always came when called, and was good about going in and out of the house. Once out, he did not respond to his name, but would look at us while calling him, before running farther. He eventually ran into traffic and was hit, head trauma. We rushed him to the vet and got him situated, he is so far in the ER, on oxygen and being monitored for head trauma but the prognosis was positive, as per the vet. Rover was called, and told us the insurance policy, then owner was notified, they are sending a friend to pick up their other dog, understandable, these are their babies and one was just hit by a car.
Question is, is this an automatic ban from Rover? I'm okay if it is, I'm so tired and emotionally drained from this, I've spent the last 2 hours crying for his owners, I just figured I'd ask since this wasn't a question posted yet, (that I could find) and other future sitters will benefit from it.
