What can I expect from house sitters?

I'm delighted to see Rover has added house sitters since I last used the service, but I'm surprised that in many cases it's no more expensive than bringing my dog to the sitter's house. What level of attention can I expect? Should I expect the house sitter to be around during the day so my dog gets walks, or should I expect them to leave for work, go take care of other dogs, etc?

Many dog owners prefer to have a sitter stay at their home as it is less stressful for the dog to be in their own home. Since Rover sitters are independent contractors some work outside the home during the day, some do not, some have walking clients and may be away several hours each day. I would search for sitters and read their profiles, they may give an indication of what their status is and whether they are away during the day or not. I may also suggest after you narrow down your search to a few candidates you create and send them a booking request, then you can ask them questions on what their day looks like- best of luck to you.
